Position: Accompanist
Reports to: Ensemble Director or assigned choir and Artistic Director
Status: 9-10 month, part-time, one rehearsal per week, non-exempt
Mission Focus
Bring your experience and professionalism to provide collaborative piano accompaniment for rehearsals
and performances from late-August through mid-May. Be an integral member of our dynamic artistic and
educational programming team. Your mastery of diverse musical styles and repertoire will support a highly
qualified ensemble director who nurtures a love of music and a desire for artistic excellence in our young
singers. Be a joyful, vital contributor to the positive environment expressed in all the activities of the Choirs
that fulfill the mission of “shaping young lives through musical excellence.”
Essential Duties
- Accompany rehearsals with preparation that reflects artistic integrity and a thorough knowledge of
the piano accompaniments to enable young artists to experience musical excellence from the very
first rehearsal through to the final performance of each work. - Maintain respectful and open communication with Ensemble Director and facilitate an artistic
collaboration that is true to the composer’s intent in each work. - Be sensitive to the Director’s conducting style to ensure that the accompaniment reflects the tempo,
dynamics, phrasing, style, and appropriate balance with the voices. - Accompany all rehearsals, performances, and tours (when appropriate) as assigned.
- Rehearse with guest instrumentalists for performances.
Qualifications

- Rehearse with guest instrumentalists for performances.
- Record practice tracks with directors as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in music or the equivalent experience in piano performance with proficiency in
sight-reading. - A sincere interest, enthusiasm, and love of working with children and young people.
- Demonstrated understanding of the benefits of a performance-based choral education program.
- Minimum of 2 years prior accompanist experience preferred, specifically with young people.
- Strong knowledge of repertoire, concert preparation and performance.
- Conscientious work ethic, accuracy, thoroughness, order, and efficiency.
- Able to respond positively and professionally to any situation.
- Able to work evenings, with weekend availability for concerts, auditions, and special events.
