For tenors and basses who enjoy singing together! Under the direction of Dr. John McDonald you'll explore great music written for young men's voices and make new friends. An informal performance will close the one day workshop. We hope to see you there!

About the Workshop:


Suited to music practitioners of all ages, choral and instrumental conductors, and aspiring conductors, this hands-on professional development will help you engage singers and improve their musicianship. This practical course is designed for conductors at all levels of experience. The workshop helps to refine conducting gesture and explores best practices in the classroom and rehearsal room. Participants receive a complimentary repertoire reading pack. This workshop is designed to be a four-session experience over a two-week span.

About the Clinician:
Mandy Miller
Master Choral Music Experience (CME) Teacher

Mandy Miller


Mandy Miller has been Head of Lochgelly High School since 1987. She is renowned as a clinician and choir conductor, and she has traveled extensively in Europe with the Choirs and Pipe Band. Mandy was awarded an Artist Teacher Diploma in 1997 and Master Teacher Certificate in Choral Music Education in 1999 from Dr. Doreen Rao through the Choral Music Experience Institute. She regularly teaches on the faculty of the CME Institute, in addition to her responsibilities as its Executive Director in the UK.

Early in 2000, Mandy was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship by The International Rotary Foundation in recognition of her positive contribution to music making in the community. Mandy works enthusiastically at the regional, national, and international level to further the cause of music making and she is in great demand as a clinician, choral composer, and expert practitioner of the choral art.


Workshop Schedule:

Friday, October 13 from 5:30p-9:00p
Saturday, October 14 from 9:00a-4:00p
Friday, October 20 from 5:00p-7:00p (only 2 hours so that participants can attend the Voces8 concert at the Basilica - tickets can be purchased here)
Saturday, October 21 from 9:00a-4:00p

Workshop Fee Schedule:


Four-day workshop: $300
Four-day workshop plus CME Certification: $350
Two-day workshop (October 13 and 14 only): $200
Collegiate Student: $50

CME Certification Option:


Participants attending all four sessions of the workshop over two weekends have the opportunity to receive Choral Music Experience (CME) certification in Levels I, II, and III.


Workshop Materials:


Participants will receive a music study pack for the course in addition to a complimentary repertoire reading pack. Study packs will be mailed to teachers who register by September 30, 2023.

The Des Lee Fine Arts Education Collaborative is dedicated to enhancing the quality, influence, attitudes, and accessibility of fine arts by connecting educators, artists, and performers with St Louis students. Community programs include educational fine arts outreach programs and concerts, student concerts, clinics, and masterclasses.
