- What part of your work is most fulfilling?
- Seeing students grow not only in their musical understanding but also as young people is the most fulfilling part of teaching. Even at such a young age, these singers form a strong sense of community and show each other so much support and love as they develop various musical skills.
- What is the best thing about working with young performers?
- Young performers are like both sponges and blank canvases. They absorb so much knowledge and are eager to be guided in any direction you lead them. Because they deserve the absolute best, I take my teaching seriously to ensure they gain the most from their musical experience.
- What are you most excited about as you look ahead for SLCC?
- I’m most excited to see the singers grow both personally and musically. Watching their confidence develop and seeing how they express their love of music through performance is incredibly fulfilling. These young performers have a beautiful way of taking ownership of any performance space they are placed in both formal and informal.
- What do you think the community should know about SLCC?
- SLCC is a program that everyone should be involved with in some capacity whether by supporting the choirs through attending performances or by sharing information about the program with others. Being a part of this organization has shown me how broad and far-reaching its impact is. SLCC is a program that is well known for leaving a lifelong impression on everyone involved and I know it has had the same effect on me!
